
Mayor urges Kempsey residents to do the right thing and stay at home
The NSW Premier and Deputy Premier have issued a stay at home order for Kempsey and regionl NSW effective from 5pm Saturday 14 August.
Under the public health order, anyone currently residing in Kempsey will only be able to leave home for these reasons:
- Shopping for food or other essential goods and services
- Medical care or compassionate needs (including to get a COVID-19 vaccine)
- Exercise outdoors with one other person you do not live with; households of more than two people can exercise together
- Essential work, or education, where you cannot work or study from home
Residents may still attend COVID testing and vaccination sites and are encouraged to do so.
Many of Kempsey Shire Council's public facing facilities will be closed to the public from today in line with the lockdown. Residents can still connect with Council remotely via phone or email.
Council are working with government partners and local stakeholders to respond to COVID-19 and the safety and wellbeing of our communities, customers and employees remains the organisation's top priority.
Essential services including kerbside waste collection and after hours call out teams for roads and sewer will continue.
