A man has now been charged after allegedly climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge last month, NSW Police say.

Just after 9am (17 June 2016), police and emergency services were called to the northern end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, following reports a man was trespassing.

Officers from Harbourside Local Area Command attended and located a man, who had climbed a section of the bridge, and refused to come down.

An operation was launched resulting in the arrest of the man at 10.50am.

He was checked by NSW Ambulance Paramedics at the scene and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for assessment.

About 4pm today, police from Harbourside Local Area Command attended Royal North Shore Hospital after being notified by staff that the 41-year-old man was being released.

He was taken into custody and charged at North Sydney Police Station with enter enclosed lands and climb on any part of bridge.

He was given conditional bail and will appear at the Downing Centre Local on Friday 8 July 2016.
