NSW man charged after having sexual intercourse with a child

A man will face court today charged after allegedly having sexual intercourse with a teenage girl in Sydney’s west earlier this year, NSW Police say.

In March, Detectives from State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation following reports a 14-year-old girl had been indecently assaulted.

Following extensive investigations, a 21-year-old man was arrested at Bankstown Police Station about 1.15pm yesterday.

He was charged with indecent assault person under 16, and have sexual intercourse with person aged 14-16.

Police will allege in court the man indecently assaulted and had sexual intercourse with the girl when she was visiting his home on Friday 15 January 2016.

The Telopea man was refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today.

The Child Abuse Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect.
