NSW man charged after woman and police assaulted

Police have charged a man with the alleged indecent assault of a woman and assault of two police officers on Sydney’s North Shore yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 5.40pm yesterday a 33-year-old woman was walking along Emmett Street, Crows Nest, when she was approached by a man.

Police were told the woman was grabbed by the wrists, pushed onto a fence and indecently assaulted before the man ran from the scene.

A passer-by came to the woman’s assistance and assisted her from the scene.

Police were contacted and attended, with an off-duty police officer arresting a 40-year-old man a short time later.

He was taken to North Sydney Police Station where it is alleged two police officers were assaulted.

The man was charged with assault with an act of indecency and two counts of assault police.

He has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.

Meanwhile, investigations into the incident are continuing with any witnesses asked to contact police.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
