NSW man charged over alleged armed robbery

A man will face court tomorrow over the alleged armed robbery of a store in Sydney’s Inner West this afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 12.30pm today, officers attached to Marrickville Local Area Command were called to a store on New Canterbury Road, Dulwich Hill, after reports of a robbery.

Police have been told a man entered the store, armed with a knife, and threatened staff members.

No one was injured during the incident.

He fled the location a short time later with cash, but was pursued by two store attendants.

They followed the man to a property on Marrickville Road, Dulwich Hill.

Police attended the property and arrested a 33-year-old man and he was taken to Newtown Police Station.

Officers executed a search warrant at the Marrickville Road property about 4.30pm, where they seized a knife and other items that will now undergo forensic examination.

The man was later charged with armed robbery and refused bail to appear before Newtown Local Court tomorrow.
