NSW man charged over property and firearms offences

A man has been charged with several alleged property and firearms offences today, NSW Police say.

The alleged offences occurred last week in Sydney’s eastern and southern suburbs.

On Thursday 4 June 2016, a number of tools were allegedly stolen from a building site in Woollahra.

A second break-in allegedly occurred at a business in Peakhurst the following evening (10 June 2016), where tools and a vehicle were stolen.

The combined value of the items stolen was approximately $100,000.

Officers from St George Proactive Crime Team commenced investigations into the incidents.

Following inquiries, two search warrants were executed today at homes in Narwee and Beverley Hills.

Police allegedly located power tools, two firearms, ammunition, a knife, gloves and a balaclava, illicit drugs and keys to an alleged stolen vehicle.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the home in Narwee. He was taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with:

- Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence;

- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner;

- Goods in custody;

- Possess prohibited drug (x2);

- Possess unregistered firearm (x2);

- Not keep firearm safely (x2);

- Possess ammunition without licence; and

- Possess unauthorised firearm (x2)

The man was refused bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court tomorrow.

Investigations are continuing and further charges are expected.
