NSW man stabbed after altercation

A man has been charged after a stabbing occurred at Ettalong Beach yesterday, NSW Police say.

Police were told about 11pm on Sunday 3 July a 51-year-old male tried to intervene in the assault of a woman at a registered club. An altercation broke out and the victim was stabbed before security officers separated the parties.

An ambulance was called to the scene and the victim was taken to Gosford Hospital.

Police later attended address on Rothwell Street, Woy Woy, and arrested a 39-year-old man.

He was taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with reckless wounding.

He is bail refused and due to attend Gosford Local Court today.

The victim remains in Gosford Hospital for monitoring.
