Police are appealing for information after a stolen vehicle was involved in three crashes during a pursuit in the state’s Hunter region, NSW Police say.
About 1.30am today, a man was at his home on Gibbers Drive, Lemon Tree Passage, when he noticed his Nissan Patrol had been stolen and contacted police.
The 56-year-old man then left his home in a Hyundai Excel and saw his Nissan Patrol being driven along Lemon Tree Passage Drive, Salt Ash. As he attempted to stop the vehicle, the unknown male driver of the Nissan has allegedly hit the Hyundai, causing the vehicle veer off the road and roll.
The man who was driving the Hyundai was not injured.
Officers located the vehicle travelling along Medowie Road, Twelve Mile Creek, and followed the vehicle onto the Pacific Highway. Police will allege as the Nissan attempted to merge onto the highway, it struck another the vehicle.
The vehicle failed to stop when alerted by police, and a s pursuit was initiated.
Just after 2am, while travelling along Durham Street, Clarence Town, the Nissan allegedly struck a parked car before the driver fled the scene on foot.
Police attached to Port Stephens Local Area Command have commenced an investigation.
