NSW police are responding to fatal crash at Bendemeer, near Tamworth

A motorcyclist has died following a crash at Bendemeer, in the state's New England region.

Emergency services were called to the New England Highway, approximately 40km north of Tamworth, about 8am today (Sunday 24 February 2019) following reports of a crash.

Police have been told a motorcyclist collided with a kangaroo, causing him to fall off his bike, before being struck by a passing utility.

The man died at the scene. He has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 20s.

Officers from Oxley Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
