Police have caught over 20 people shoplifting during an operation in Sydney’s south-west, NSW Police say.
today, police from Fairfield Local Area Command, in conjunction with Loss Prevention Officers, conducted a retail theft operation within the local area.
This included shopping districts in Fairfield, Wetherill Pak, Bonnyrigg, and Villawood.
During the operation, 13 adult shoplifting offenders were detected and dealt with by way of Field Court Attendance Notice and Criminal Infringement Notice.
One male offender was allegedly detected attempting to steal $876 worth of honey. He was also allegedly found to be in possession of heroin.
Eight juvenile shoplifting offences were also detected and were dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
Police also issued 23 banning notices and issued 51 move-on directions.
Police plan on continuing retail theft operations in the lead up to the Christmas and New Year period.
