Police have defected a truck and fined the driver as a part of Operation Impact, NSW Police say.
About 9.20am this morning today, officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol, Joint Traffic Task Force, were conducting heavy vehicle enforcement on the Newell Highway, Brockelhurst as a part of Operation Impact.
Officers stopped a Kenworth Tipper truck and spoke with the 68-year-old driver.
While inspecting the truck, a download of the trucks engine control module identified a non compliant speed limiter, allowing it to travel to a maximum speed of 150km/h.
As a result, the driver of the truck was issued with an infringement notice for having a non compliant speed limiter. The truck was issued a major defect, grounding the vehicle.
Acting Commander of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy, said the NSW Police Force will continue to target those in the trucking industry who are putting lives at risk.
"The Joint Traffic Task Force will continue to be out in force, targeting those within the trucking industry who break the law.
"If you drive the truck, you are responsible for making sure its road worthy and complies with vehicle standards.
"Before you start you journey, make sure your truck is up to scratch, otherwise we will" said Assistant Commissioner Corboy.
