Traffic & Highway Patrol officers have allegedly detected two Audi’s driving at more than 45km/h over the speed limit in Wagga Wagga yesterday, NSW Police say.
About 9.30pm last night yesterday, officers from Wagga Wagga Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Byrnes Road, North Wagga Wagga.
Police allegedly detected an Audi RS4 travelling at 224 km/h in an 80km/h zone which was followed by an Audi RS3 which was detected travelling 217km/h in a 80km/h zone.
Officers stopped both vehicles and arrested a 42-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman.
The 44-year-old man was charged speed dangerous, exceed speed over 45km/h.
The 22-year-old woman was charged with speed dangerous, exceed speed over 45km/h, drive prohibited vehicle, not display p plates.
Both the man and woman’s licences were suspended on the spot for six month.
The pair will appear before court at a later date.
Acting Commander of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy, said speeding is one of the biggest killers on our roads.
"Speeding is still the biggest singer killer on NSW roads, contributing to over 40 per cent of the road deaths each year.
"Each time you choose to speed, you risk not only your life, but the lives of all other road users.
"There is nothing safe about speeding, and it can cost you more than your licence, it could cost your life or the lives of others." said assistant Commissioner Corboy.
