NSW Police Force response to Jenny Leong MP complaint

The NSW Police Force does not condone or tolerate any form of discrimination whether the conduct occurs on or off duty, and all officers have a legal obligation to report misconduct. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action.

NSW Police Force's oversight agency completed its investigation into the matter involving MP Jenny Leong's complaint and referred it to the NSW Police Force Professional Standards Command (PSC) for internal investigation.

In December 2017, NSW Police Force made sustained findings including that the off-duty conduct had taken place and took disciplinary action against some of the officers.

The NSW Police Force has apologised to Ms Leong.

The NSW Police Force expects all officers to treat every member of the community with respect and courtesy and we enforce the Code of Conduct and Ethics.

As part of the NSW Police Force's commitment to ongoing training of all officers, a training package specifically focusing on the use of social media will be developed to compliment the existing training undertaken by all officers and members of the NSW Police Force.
