NSW police officer assaulted, woman charged

A woman will face court today after she allegedly bit a police officer on the arm while being arrested near Dulwich Hill yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 5.30pm yesterday, officers from Police Transport Command spoke to a woman on a train near Dulwich Hill Railway Station.

Subsequent inquiries revealed the woman had an outstanding warrant.

During her arrest, the woman allegedly resisted the officers and bit a senior constable on the arm.

The 19-year-old woman was taken to Newtown Police Station and charged with several offences including, assault police, resist arrest, intimidation, offensive language, goods in custody, transport offences and an outstanding warrant.

She was refused bail to appear before Newtown Local Court today.

The female senior constable was treated for bruising and resumed her duties without further incident.
