NSW police probe fire at school near Blue Mountains as suspicious

Police are investigating a fire at a school near the Blue Mountains as suspicious, NSW Police say.

At 7.45am today (Saturday 4 August 2018), emergency services were called to a school on High School Drive, Winmalee, after reports of a fire in the music store room.

Fire fighters attended and extinguished the fire.

Officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police.

Early indications suggest intruders lit the fire before leaving, stealing numerous musical instruments in the process.

Some of these instruments were recovered by police nearby.

Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information that may assist is urged to come forward.
