Just before 2pm yesterday, police and emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway at Corindi Beach, south of Grafton, following reports of a crash.

On arrival, officers found a Nissan Navara utility and a Ford Courier utility had crashed.

A 41-year-old man driving the Ford was trapped for a short time before he was released and taken by NSW Ambulance Paramedics to Coffs Harbour Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the Nissan, a 54-year-old man, was treated at the scene and also taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Specialist crash investigators were also in attendance and are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact Crime Stopers.
