NSW police pursuit, man charged near Glenn Innes

A man will face court tomorrow faced with driving charges after an alleged pursuit with a woman and child in the car in the New England Region, NSW Police say.

Just before 2pm today, police were patrolling Gwydir Highway, near Glenn Innes, when they attempted to stop a Mazda sedan for a Random Breath Test.

After the vehicle allegedly failed to stop, a short pursuit was initiated, which was terminated due to dangerous driving.

A short time later, officers attached to New England Local Area Command located the vehicle on Sturmans Road, Swan Vale.

Police will allege the vehicle drove through a fence on to a near-by property. It will be alleged the man and woman were arrested after a short foot pursuit, with police finding the woman to be holding a child.

The 28-year-old man and 30-year-old woman were arrested and taken to Glenn Innes Police Station.

The man was charged with drive manner/speed dangerous, drove whilst disqualified, skye’s law, DUI drug, malicious damage and enter enclosed lands.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Armidale Local Court tomorrow.

The woman was released without charge.
