NSW police re-appeal to locate the body of Brendan Vollmost

Detectives investigating the alleged murder of Brendan Vollmost last year are reappealing to the community for information to locate his body, NSW Police say.

Brendan Vollmost, 23, was allegedly chased into his yard at Cox Street, South Windsor, about 10.30pm on Tuesday 31 March 2015.

He was later carried into a vehicle and driven from the scene. Mr Vollmost has not been seen since and police allege he was murdered. His body has never been recovered.

Four men were arrested by Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives and charged with murder in September last year. They remain before the courts.

Investigations under Strike Force Orander are continuing, which includes inquiries relating to suspicious activity in the Dorrigo area on the evening of Wednesday 1 April 2015 and early on Thursday 2 April 2015.

Robbery and Serious Crime Commander, Detective Acting Superintendent Russell Oxford, said despite last year’s investigative breakthrough, Mr Vollmost’s family are still searching for answers.

"It has been just over 18 months since Brendan Vollmost’s family last saw him," Det A/Supt Oxford said.

"The loss of a loved one is never easy to deal with, but the grief can be even harder to overcome when you can’t lay them to rest.

"Strike Force Orander detectives have explored numerous lines of inquiry to locate Mr Vollmost’s body and we know there are people in the community who have the information we need.

"As we continue our investigation, we are appealing to the community to come forward with information that will help Mr Vollmost’s family with their grieving process," Det A/Supt Oxford said.

Brendan Vollmost’s mother, Tammy Slade, pleaded for those with information to contact police.

"We are fast approaching our second Christmas without Brendan, and it isn’t any easier than the first," Ms Slade said.

"It’s hard enough to cope with the fact he is gone, but not being able to properly – and respectfully – say goodbye, is heart-breaking.

"Please help give us closure by leading police to Brendan’s remains.

"Any information, even if it seems insignificant to you, could change everything for our family and help ease our pain," Ms Slade said.

Police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers.
