NSW police release COMFIT images following investigations into house fire

Detectives investigating a house fire in Crescent Head last month have released likenesses of two men they believe may be able to assist with inquiries, NSW Police say.

About 11.55pm on Friday 17 June 2016, a 66-year-old man was asleep in his home on Baker Drive, Crescent Head, when he was woken by the sound of an explosion coming from the south-western side of his home. He smelt what he believed was gunpowder and then went back to sleep.

About 2.30am, he woke to find flames coming from the front portion of the house. The man was able to escape uninjured, however the house was destroyed by the fire.

Police would like to speak with several men who were reported to be standing outside the house prior to it becoming engulfed by fire.

Detectives attached to the Mid North Coast Local Area Command commenced Strike Force Delve to investigate the incident.

Investigators have now released a computer-generated image of two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

Anyone who may know the identity of these persons or who may have witnessed the incident are urged to contact Kempsey Detectives on (02) 6561 6199 or Crime Stopers.
