NSW police seek info after man shot

Police are appealing for information after a man presented himself to Fairfield Hospital with a gunshot wound following an alleged shooting in Sydney’s south-west, NSW Police say.

About 5.15pm today, a 45-year-old man was driving home, when he stopped to speak to two men on Westacott Lane, Canley Vale.

A short time later, another man allegedly pulled over in a dark-coloured 4WD and approached the group.

Police have been told there was a brief verbal dispute, before the unknown man armed himself with a firearm and shot the 45-year-old man in the leg.

The armed man then ran to his vehicle and fled the area.

The injured man attended a Fairfield medical centre, where he was referred to Fairfield Hospital and police were alerted.

He’s since been discharged from hospital.

Officers attached to Cabramatta Local Area Command launched an investigation into the incident and established a crime scene on Westacott Lane.

Detectives are continuing their inquiries and would now like to speak to a man who may be able to assist in the investigation.

The man is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, of a thin build and he was last seen wearing a red long-sleeved hooded jacket, dark pants and a cap.

Anyone who knows the man’s identity, or has any information that could assist police, is urged to contact Crime Stopers.
