NSW police seek info after suspicious fire

Police have appealed to the community for information or images, after a heritage listed building was destroyed by a suspicious fire at Albion Park Rail, on Friday, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to the unoccupied, single storey, heritage listed home in Croome Road, shortly after 5.30pm on Friday 16 February 2018, when smoke was detected.

Police from Lake Illawarra Police District attended a short time later and found numerous onlookers at the location where the building was already well alight.

Fire-fighters attended and fought the blaze for several hours but the abandoned building had been extensively damaged.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious, and have been told three males were observed running from the location shortly before the fire was discovered.

Two vehicles were also seen to leave the area after the fire started.

Investigators are now appealing for anyone with images or vision of any suspicious activity, or anyone with information about those responsible, to contact Lake Illawarra Police or Crime Stoppers.
