NSW police seek info after woman indecently assaulted in her home at Bourke

Police are appealing for information after an unknown man broke into a woman’s house and indecently assaulted her, NSW Police say.

About 10:10pm on Friday 27 August 2016, a 40-year-old woman was in her home on Anson Street, Bourke, when an unknown male entered the home and threatened her.

The unknown man attempted to strangle the woman and indecently assaulted her, before fleeing the house.

Police were called to the house and commenced investigations into the incident.

A crime scene was established and police conducted a patrol of the area, but the man was not located.

Detectives attached to Bourke Police Station are investigating the matter and would like to speak to a man who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.


He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, with dark coloured skin, short black hair and about 175cm-180cm tall. He was wearing a light-coloured jumper, tracksuit pants and a cap.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
