NSW police seek info following aggravated break and enter near Lake Illawarra

Police are appealing for public assistance as they investigate an aggravated break and enter near Lake Illawarra last night, NSW Police say.

About 9pm today, a 69-year-old woman was in her unit on Illowra Crescent, Primbee, when an unknown man rang the doorbell.

Police have been told the man asked to come into the apartment and use the woman’s phone when she declined and closed the door.

The man returned and again asked to use the woman’s phone, when she attempted to pass her phone without the man entering the premises.

The man forced his way into the unit, pushed the woman onto a chair, before leaving a short time later taking a mobile phone.

The woman was uninjured and contacted officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command, who attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries into the incident continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, in his early 20s, about 168cm tall, of stocky build, with short-cropped hair and a thin moustache.

Any witnesses are urged to contact local police via Crime Stopers.
