NSW police seek info following suspicious house fire in the Blue Mountains

Detectives have released images of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries into a suspicious house fire in the Blue Mountains last September, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to Mount View Avenue, Hazelbrook, shortly after 4am on Saturday 3 September 2016, and found the single-storey brick home well-alight.

A man who lived in the home was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to hospital for further treatment for the effects of smoke inhalation.

The scene was examined by specialist forensic officers, and it is believed the fire was deliberately lit.

Detectives from Blue Mountains Local Area Command established Strike Force Clunie to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.

As part of their ongoing inquiries, strike force detectives have released an image of a man, who they believe can assist with their inquiries.

In addition, they are also seeking information about a vehicle depicted in the CCTV image.

The man is depicted as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, between 155cm and 165cm tall, with a medium build, dark hair, and a full beard.

He is seen to be wearing a dark coloured jacket, a blue/grey shirt, black tracksuit pants, bright red shoes and an orange or red baseball cap.

The vehicle is depicted as being a late model dark grey Mitsubishi Lancer.

Police are investigating possible links to South Australia.

This man, or anyone who knows his identity, or noticed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the fire is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
