NSW police seek witnesses as part of investigation into shooting

Detectives are appealing for witnesses as part of investigations into a shooting incident in Sydney’s south-west earlier this year, NSW Police say.

Strike Force Barcom was established by detectives from State Crime Command’s Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad (MEOCS) and Fairfield Local Area Command to investigate an alleged shooting at Edensor Park about 2am on Wednesday 16 March 2016.

Investigations revealed two men were driving through Abbotsbury when they noticed they were being followed by another vehicle.

Shortly after, a number of shots were allegedly fired at their vehicle.

As the men attempted to evade the other vehicle, the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Restwell and Cowpasture Roads, Edensor Park.

One of the men ran from the scene; however the second man was approached by a man from the other vehicle, who allegedly attempted to shoot him, but the weapon did not fire.

The second man ran from the location and witnesses reported he flagged down a number of vehicles to ask for assistance.

Detectives are appealing to speak with anyone who may have been in the area at the time, particularly any motorist who may have stopped to assist the man.

Anyone who has information that could assist detectives, and has not yet spoken to police, is urged to contact Crime Stopers.
