NSW police seize cannabis worth almost $500,000

Police from Strike Force Zambesi have uncovered almost $500,000 worth of cannabis following a search warrant at a home in Sydney’s south-west yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 3pm yesterday, strike force officers executed a search warrant at a home on Prairie Vale Road, Prairiewood.

Police will allege the premise had undergone modifications in order to cultivate cannabis indoors.

During the search, officers and seized located 44 cannabis plants and about 50kg cannabis head.

The combined estimated potential street value of the cannabis is $488,000.

A 23-year-old man and 57-year-old woman were arrested at the home.

A second man, aged 26, was arrested a short distance away.

They were all taken to Fairfield Police Station.

The 23-year-old man and the 57-year-old woman were transferred to the custody of Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

The 26-year-old was charged with enhanced indoor cultivation for commercial purpose, supply prohibited drug, organise/conducts/assists drug premises and found on/entering/leaving drug premises.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today.

Strike Force Zambesi, comprising officers from South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squads, Wetherill Park and Bass Hill, was established to target the hydroponic cultivation of cannabis in the region.
