More than 150 million drink containers have been refunded through Return and Earn and more than 500 collection points are now open across NSW, helping to keep our environment container-free.
NSW Environment Protection Authority Acting Chair and CEO Anissa Levy today encouraged everybody to support Return and Earn and thanked the community who were already participating.
"Whether you regularly return or are joining in for the first time, you can exchange your eligible drink containers by visiting a collection point and claiming either your 10 cent voucher or a PayPal e-payment refund from a reverse vending machine, or a cash refund from an over the counter site.
"More than 150 million containers returned in the first three months is a great result and we expect this momentum to continue as more collection points are rolled out and people get into the habit of exchanging their containers.
"There are now more than 500 collection points across NSW including reverse vending machines, over the counter sites and automated depots for large returns, with more being rolled out each week.
"An interactive map on the Return and Earn website lists all collection point locations and makes it easy to find your closest site.
"The most recent additions include sites at Leura, Dee Why, Byron Bay, Kurri Kurri, Young, North Sydney, Muswellbrook and Stanmore."
Ms Levy encouraged people to act responsibly when returning their containers at collection points.
"We encourage everyone to keep the area clean so please take away any bags or boxes used to transport containers as well as ineligible containers not accepted for the refund which should be placed in kerbside recycling.
"Sundays are the busiest day so where possible people should try to return their containers during the week."
Most drink containers between 150mls and three litres are eligible with some exceptions such as wine, cordial, spirits and plain milk containers. A full list of exceptions is available at: www.returnandearn.org.au
Containers don’t need to be pristine but they should be empty, uncrushed, unbroken and have the original label attached
