In the last 24 hours to 8am Friday 29 May, NSW SES members responded to 321 incidents, with the busiest Units being Wyong and Gosford as flash flooding impacts coastal areas.
NSW SES members and partner emergency service personnel have completed flood rescues at Erina Heights, Narara, Ourimbah and Holgate for cars that had become trapped in floodwater. All persons were brought to safety.
NSW SES has issued 14 warnings for communities across the Hunter, Mid North Coast, Northern Rivers and Northern Tablelands, including a Watch and Act warning for parts of Dungog not to enter floodwater.
Heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding is forecast to continue for parts of the Mid North Coast, Upper Hunter and adjacent districts this morning and early afternoon, before easing later today.
Six-hourly rainfall totals of 40-70mm are possible, with isolated falls up to 80mm. Severe thunderstorms are also possible for eastern parts of the Hunter and the southeastern part of Mid North Coast until early afternoon.
Prolonged rainfall may cause river level rises, and minor flooding is possible along the Orara, Manning and Gloucester, Bellinger, Hastings, Paterson and William Rivers and parts of the Hunter River.
NSW SES is prepared to respond to further calls for assistance, with flood rescue teams and specialist resources currently active throughout the risk areas.
Communities are urged to steer clear of floodwater. If you come across a flooded road, turn around and find an alternative route.
