NT Worksafe Appoint New Boss

An extensive national search has led to the appointment of Bill Esteves as the new Senior Director of NT Worksafe.

Mr Esteves takes on the Territory's top work health and safety position with close to 20 years' experience in both the public and private sectors in areas related to health and safety, regulatory compliance and prosecutions.

With a demonstrated record of successfully leading cultural change, and improving business performance within dynamic regulatory, commercial and stakeholder environments, Mr Esteves is an experienced executive.

Mr Esteves is the current Chief Transformation Officer & Group General Manager HSEQ with Kings Transport, an international transport and logistics company operating across Australia and New Zealand.

Previously, Mr Esteves led many milestone projects including Queensland's Greyhound Commission of Inquiry, and Queensland's Independent Review of the Taxi Industry in response to disruption from Uber.

He joins NT WorkSafe as they work through the recommendations from a six-month independent best practice review, starting his new position on 10 June pending successful relocation and meeting quarantine requirements.

As stated by Attorney-General, Natasha Fyles:

"We welcome Mr Esteves to the Northern Territory to fill what is an important role within the Department of Attorney-General and Justice.

"Mr Esteves joins NT Worksafe at an important time as we implement the recommendations from last year's review into making the NT a safer place to work.

"Territorians deserve to be able to return safely from work each day and Mr Esteves will be pivotal in ensuring we meet that objective."
