NYE celebrations – Cairns

Revellers across Queensland were well behaved as the state welcomed 2019.

Whilst police across Queensland reported a busy night as people farewelled one year and welcomed another, revellers at major events throughout the state were mostly well behaved.

There were very few policing incidents in Cairns with police pleased with crowd behaviour.

Most policing incidents were minor in nature and related to anti-social behaviour and alcohol related incidents.

Four people were arrested for anti-social behaviour related offences, four were given notices to appear on drug related offences, four were given move-on directions and two traffic infringement notices issued. Police conducted a number of random breath tests and were pleased none resulted in a positive result.
