The Oceanview track in Burleigh Head National Park will be closed from Monday 20 April to Friday 1 May 2026 for repair works.
Winding around the rocky headland, the Oceanview track is a scenic stroll enjoyed by visitors and locals alike, but is subject to various environmental impacts.
During a routine closure in February, heavy rain destabilised the slope and two large boulders weighing over 3000 kilograms each dislodged, causing damage to the walking track and fencing.
Taking the next steps towards recovery, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) is undertaking planned works from 20 April to 1 May 2026, weather permitting.
The Oceanview track is closed for the duration of the works for public safety. People who ignore the closure and enter the closed area can face a $667 fine.
During the works, the Rainforest circuit will remain open and ready to welcome walkers through rainforest, showcasing the stunning natural beauty of Burleigh Head National Park.
People are reminded never put their safety at risk by entering closed areas, follow directions of QPWS rangers and Queensland Police Service (QPS) staff and pay attention to signage.
