Off-duty firefighter recognised by Ambulance Victoria

CFA Operations Manager for Training and Delivery, James Dullard, received a CEO Commendation from Ambulance Victoria's Tony Walker yesterday for his actions and intervention during an attack on two paramedics.

Mr Dullard was off-duty when the incident occurred earlier this year, but he didn't hesitate to step in when he witnessed the incident.

"I did what hopefully anyone in my position would have done under the circumstances," Mr Dullard said.

"I was shocked to witness what occurred right in front of me but I'm just glad I could help."

"While I certainly didn't expect any thanks for what I did, I am truly humbled to be recognised and want to thank Ambulance Victoria for this honour."

CFA Chief Executive Officer and Chief Officer Steve Warrington said it's a sad reality that us and other emergency service personnel are regularly faced with violence from some members of the public while we're out in the field.

"I was honoured to be there to witness James receiving his Commendation. We are very proud of James and also his neighbour Ivan for their quick actions on the night." CEO/CO Warrington said.
