Off-Duty Officer Charged With DUI in SW Metro Region

An off-duty police officer has been charged with high range drink driving following a crash in Sydney's south west overnight.

About 10.35pm (Saturday 2 August 2025), police were called to the intersection of William Buckley Drive and Stonequarry Way, Carnes Hill, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol attended and located a Toyota Corolla with a street sign wedged between the wheel and guard.

The driver, a 24-year-old man – an off-duty constable attached to a South West Metropolitan Region command – was breath tested and returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Green Valley Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis and returned an alleged reading of 0.204.

The 24-year-old was charged with drive with high range PCA and had his licence suspended.

He is due to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 27 August 2025.

The man is not currently in the workplace and his employment status is under review.
