Officer Charged After Critical Incident Investigation 4 June

An officer has been charged following a critical incident investigation into a crash in Sydney's west last year.

About 7.15pm on Monday 27 October 2025, the officer – a constable attached to a South West Metropolitan Region command – was responding to a call for assistance in his police vehicle when he allegedly crashed into a guard rail near the intersection of Church Street and Parramatta Road, Parramatta.

The constable was uninjured; however, a 23-year-old probationary constable was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a serious arm injury before being taken to Westmead Hospital for further treatment and surgery.

A crime scene was established and a critical incident team from Fairfield City Police Area Command investigated the circumstances surrounding police involvement in the crash.

Following the investigation, the officer was today (Thursday 4 June 2026), issued a court attendance notice for negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm.

He is due to face Parramatta Local Court on Monday 20 July 2026.

The officer's employment status is under review.
