Officer charged over child sexual offences in Northern Region

A serving police officer has been charged over alleged historic child sexual offences, NSW Police say.

The charges relate to the alleged sexual and indecent assaults of a girl in the 1990s, when the man was 15 years of age.

Following inquiries from the Professional Standards Command (PSC), about 9.45am yesterday (Thursday 22 February 2018), the man was arrested at his home.

He was taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with indecent assault where victim under age of 10 years (x6) and sexual intercourse with person under the age of 10 years (x2).

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Toronto Local Court on Wednesday 28 March 2018.

The man is currently a senior constable attached to the Northern Region. He was not a police officer at the time of the alleged offences.

The officer’s duty status is under review.
