Officer charged - Southern Region

An off-duty police officer has been charged with drink driving in the Illawarra earlier this week.

About 9.50pm on Sunday 28 April 2019, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Highway Patrol were performing duties on the Princes Highway, when they stopped a vehicle at Shellharbour.

The officers spoke to the 39-year-old male driver before subjecting him to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive reading.

The man, who is an off-duty senior constable from Southern Region, was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

He underwent a breath analysis, which returned a reading of 0.126.

A Future Service Court Attendance Notice was served for the offence of Mid-Range PCA and his driver's licence was suspended.

He is due to appear at Albion Park Local Court on Friday 7 June 2019.
