Officer charged - Specialist Command 9 February

A police officer has been charged following an investigation into an alleged data breach.

In September 2020, officers attached to the Professional Standards Command commenced an investigation following unlawful access to restricted information by a senior constable, attached to a specialist command.

Following inquiries, the 46-year-old male officer was issued a Court Attendance Notice today (Tuesday 9 February 2021), for two counts of cause unauthorised access to restricted data held in a computer system contrary to section 308H Crimes Act (NSW) 1900.

He is due to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 25 March 2021.
