Officer Charged With Fraud in Central Metro Region

A police officer has been charged following an investigation into alleged fraud offences.

In September 2024, police established Strike Force Riverlands to investigate alleged fraudulent reimbursement submissions made by an officer.

Police received reports that multiple ineligible reimbursement claims had allegedly been submitted under fuel purchases intended for a police vehicle, resulting in a sum of money being reimbursed to the account holder.

Following extensive inquiries, a senior constable attached to a Central Metropolitan Region command was issued with a court attendance notice today (Tuesday 24 March 2026), for 45 counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception. Police will allege the man received $ 4,271 over a period of seven years.

The 49-year-old man is due to appear before Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday 6 May 2026.

The officer remains in the workplace and his employment status is under review.
