Officer charged with inappropriate data access in Southern Region

A police officer will face court next month in relation to alleged inappropriate access to the police computer system.

The male inspector, who is attached to a local area command in the Southern Region, is alleged to have made the access during May this year, NSW Police say.

Following inquiries, the officer was yesterday charged with unauthorised access to restricted data.

He was granted bail prior to his appearance at Downing Centre Local Court on Monday 28 November 2016.

The officer is suspended with pay.
