Officer Faces Misconduct Charges in Southern Region

A police officer has been charged after allegedly accessing and sharing restricted data.

In January 2026, officers attached to the Professional Standards Command commenced an investigation under Strike Force Daton into allegations an officer was illegally accessing and distributing restricted police data.

Following inquiries, a 33-year-old male constable – attached to a command in the Southern Region – was arrested in the Illawarra region today (Thursday 19 March 2026).

Search warrants were subsequently executed, and a number of electronic items have been seized for further examination

The officer has now been charged with holder of public office misconduct him or herself.

Police will allege the officer unlawfully accessed NSW Police Force information and disclosed it to individuals believed to be connected to criminal elements.

He has been granted conditional bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 5 May 2026.

The officer has been suspended without pay.
