Officer injured after serious crash - South Coast

A police officer has been injured following a serious crash on the South Coast overnight.

About 1am (Wednesday 15 July 2020), a police vehicle attached to South Coast Police District was travelling northbound along the Princes Highway, Broadwater, when a Toyota Prado travelling southbound lost control and overturned, colliding head-on with the police vehicle near the intersection of Hardakers Road.

The Toyota driver, a 42-year-old woman, suffered a laceration to her arm. She was taken to Bega Hospital along with two passengers, a 22-year-old man and a four-year-old girl, for observation.

The driver and sole occupant of the police vehicle, a male senior constable, suffered a head injury. He was taken to Bega Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established with officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attending to assist.

An investigation has commenced into the circumstance surrounding the crash.
