One dead after music festival in Parramatta

A woman has died in hospital after attending a music festival at Parramatta.

About 6pm yesterday (Saturday 12 January 2019), a 19-year-old Central Coast woman was taken from the FOMO Festival in Parramatta to Westmead Hospital, but died later in the evening.

An estimated crowd of 11,387 people attended the music festival at Parramatta Park with officers searching a total of 146 people with 54 people found in possession of drugs.

A further 24 people were ejected from the venue, generally for intoxication issues, and 28 were refused entry.

An investigation is now underway into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death with officers from Parramatta Police Area Command appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
