One dead, five pedestrians seriously injured after B-double crash in Alexandria

One person has died and five pedestrians have been seriously injured after a truck crash at Alexandria this morning, NSW Police say.

Just after 7.45am (Wednesday 12 December 2018), emergency services were called to Botany Road, near O’Riordan Street, after reports of a truck crash.

Police have been told a B-double travelling south on Botany Road veered into northbound lanes, before hitting pedestrians, a power pole, a bus stop and a building.

At least five pedestrians have been seriously injured and one person has died.

The driver of the truck remains trapped at the scene.

Officers from Redfern Police Area Command, with assistance from Police Rescue, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, NSW Ambulance, and Fire & Rescue NSW remain at the scene.

Botany Road is closed in both directions between Bourke Street and Epsom Road.
