It's official, Rocky loves Rocky Horror, with Rockhampton Regional Council announcing an eighth performance will go on sale this Friday (6 March) to cater for demand for the musical.
The performance, on Thursday 26 March at 7.30pm is the second extra show that has been added to the season, but will be the last, with no further extensions possible.
The cast of 25 local performers and a six-piece live band have been rehearsing since earlier this year to bring Richard O'Brien's cult musical to life on the Pilbeam Theatre stage.
Local designer Ross James has created an impressive set, which was delivered to the Pilbeam Theatre this week and installed by Pilbeam Theatre production staff in readiness for the last few weeks of rehearsals.
Rockhampton Regional Council Communities, Arts and Heritage spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson said:
"This is really great news. I am so pleased that the people of Rocky are getting behind this show ad supporting the local team creating Rocky's own Rocky Horror Show.
"There is certainly abuzz around town. I have even heard that at least one fan has bought tickets to every performance of the season!" he said.
"Rockhampton Regional Council is proud to produce its annual community musical which not only gives local performers the chance to hone their skills on stage but also enables audiences to see a great show," he said.
"Even though this extra show has been added, tickets are still available for most performances," he said." "But please hurry, no further extensions are possible. Get your tickets now."
Director Amanda Hock said:
"The company is working tirelessly to bring this iconic production to life. We are thrilled that the region is demanding another show and proud to release another opportunity to meet the need. All departments are ready and raring to go as we approach the exciting stages of adding costume, amalgamation with the band and the final ingredient of the set."
"This show is dynamite, and we can't wait to see Rocky get behind Rocky! We are itching to get out there!"
The Rocky Horror Show is directed by Amanda Hock, with Musical Director Stephanie Quinlan, Choreographer Lita Hegvold and Vocal Director Emma McGuire.
The Rocky Horror Show will be performed at the Pilbeam Theatre from 20 to 29 March.
