One-Stop Shop For Melton's Healthcare Needs

  • Minister for Health

Melton families can now access world-class community health, mental health and family services under the one roof, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos today opened the cutting-edge $21 million health hub that offers a one-stop shop for Melton' families health needs.

The new facility is home to services offered by Djerriwarrh Health Services, Melbourne Health-Midwest Area Mental Health Service, MacKillop Family Services and Odyssey House Victoria.

A one-stop shop means families can access women's health services, children's health services and family services. Aboriginal health services, chronic disease intervention and prevention, and mental health, drug and alcohol support are also available.

The facility features consulting rooms, group rooms, a gym, training and assessment kitchen, as well as staff areas and a mental health tribunal room.

The Labor Government is giving our hospitals the resources they need to offer the best care. At Dherriwarrh, we're providing $48.62 million this financial year - that's 10.9 per cent more than the previous 12 months, and 21.3 per cent more than when the Liberals were last in power.

Melton residents have told us they want a new hospital, and we're listening. The Labor Government has committed $2.3 million to begin planning for a new hospital at Toolern.

As noted by Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos

"The Melton Health Hub is a one-stop shop to give the growing community better access to the health services that everybody needs, all under the one roof."

"We know that time-poor families need convenience when it comes to looking after the health - and that's exactly what this hub offers."

As stated by Member for Melton Steve McGhie

"Families can count on us when it comes to health. We've upgraded Djerriwarrh Health Services, we're building new ambulance stations in Melton and Bacchus Marsh, and we're planning for a Melton Hospital."
