A Victorian Mercedes-Benz Salesman has been rewarded by his dealership for working 50 years with the one brand.
This March, 3 Point Motors Mercedes-Benz celebrates a true legend of their business and industry, celebrating Alf Buccella’s 50-year tenure.
In recognition, 3 Point made a film with Alf where he talks reflectively of his tenure with the brand, the business and his extensive customer base.
After 50 years with the brand, Alf has developed a loyal following of customers with some families now having three generations who have purchased Mercedes-Benz vehicles from Alf. Long-time customer, and local to 3 Point Motors, Bruno Grollo said, "I found him to be a gentleman, he’s a nice guy, he always keeps to his word."
Alf joined 3 Point Motors in March 1967 as an apprentice motor mechanic. Then, 3 Point Motors was a relatively young business with premises in Fergie Street, North Fitzroy.
Alf says, "As an apprentice I swept the floor. As a service advisor I learned intricate technical details of all our cars, so I could talk with confidence to customers about their pride and joy. As a sales manager I learned how to manage a team and foster talent."
One of Alf’s disciples, now Joint Dealer Principal and 25-year veteran of 3 Point Motors, Michael Di Muzio said, "I can’t imagine 3 Point without Alf. He’s like putting the Mercedes-Benz badge on the car, he fits, you need him there.
"He’s quiet and humble but he produces the results of a superstar," Michael added.
Alf’s achievement was recognised at the recent national Mercedes-Benz Retailer of the Year Awards held in Melbourne. Alf received a standing ovation when presented with his 50 Years Award from Mr. Horst von Sanden, Daimler Australia/Pacific Pty Ltd Chief Executive Officer.
"We all learn by the example Alf sets every day, he's an honour to have in our organisation," said Jason Rowe, 3 Point Motors Joint Dealer Principal.
