Queensland Rail is excited to announce the return of Opera Queensland onboard the Spirit of the Outback train this year following overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers during its first run in 2024.

This special journey highlights a shared goal of bringing the arts to unexpected places and broadening access to live performance.

This immersive experience has transformed the iconic Spirit of the Outback into a mobile stage, offering customers a front-row seat to world-class opera as the outback scenery unfolds beyond the windows.

Blending travel, storytelling and music, the performances feature selections from beloved operas, performed by acclaimed vocalists, Nick Kirkup and Megan Kim.

Queensland Rail CEO Kat Stapleton said Queensland Rail was committed to connecting communities across regional Queensland, and this was a unique way to achieve that.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for our customers to travel to the festival in train carriages filled with the soaring voices of live opera along the way," Ms Stapleton said.

"Art is central to human experience. It connects us and helps us see the world through different eyes. Art extends beyond galleries or opera houses. From the ancient cultural expressions of First Nations peoples to the murals at our stations, we value all art and the role it plays in enriching our shared journeys.

"With train tickets sold out, we're thrilled to collaborate on this unique experience and look forward to hearing about our customers journeys to the outback and beyond."
