Operation Discompose, Gang-related Drug Offences

Police have charged two men as part of an operation targeting criminal street gang activity and a local drug-trafficking network.

As part of Operation Discompose, officers from the Organised Crimes Gangs Group, in partnership with Gold Coast District Police, located and arrested a 36-year-old Broadbeach man inside a Surfers Paradise barber shop, finding cocaine and $9000 cash.

Officers also executed search warrants at a Second Avenue address in Broadbeach, and a Leonard Avenue address in Surfers Paradise, locating cocaine at both, as well as a number of phones, prescription medications and a money counter.

The 36-year-old Broadbeach man was charged with one count each of fail to appear, possess dangerous drug, possess property acquired for the purposes of drug offence and possession of suspected proceeds.

A 28-year-old Surfers Paradise man was charged with two counts of possess dangerous drug and one count each of supply dangerous drug, possess property used in connection, possession of utensils and contravene access order

Both men are expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today, July 28.
