Operation Joint wrap up - Shepparton CBD

Shepparton, Seymour and Benalla Highway Patrol units conducted Operation Joint on Saturday 6 May in the Shepparton, Victoria Police say.

Police patrolled various locations in the CBD between 5pm and 1am the following morning detecting a number of breaches to the Road Safety Act.

As a result of the operation 27 individuals were detected for offences which include:

•7 drivers detected exceeding the speed limit.

•4 offender Impaired drivers – including both exceed blood alcohol and alleged drug offences.

•5 banned drivers - including disqualified, suspended and unlicensed drivers.

•7 vehicles unsafe or defected.

During the same period police attended three collisions in the Shepparton area.

While two drivers were lucky to walk away from single vehicle collisions, a third two-vehicle collision left two people with serious injuries.

A 74-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were later airlifted to Melbourne after a collision on the Shepparton-Katamatite Road and Lemnos North intersection in Congupna at about 10.30pm. Shepparton Highway Patrol members are investigating the collision and are appealing for any witnesses.
