Operation Quebec Jagger update

A man is assisting with enquiries following investigations after a body was discovered in a ute at Staplyton on June 27, Queensland Police say.

Detectives launched Operation Quebec Jagger on the afternoon of June 27 after a body was located in the back of a utility around 2pm in a gated community on Silky Oak Drive.

When police arrived, a man left the address in a black utility which was tracked to Staplyton.

An Investigation Centre comprising of detectives from the Logan District and the Homicide Investigation Unit was established at Logan Central police station.

On June 28, police launched an urgent appeal for information in relation to the whereabouts of a man who police wished to speak to in relation to their investigation.

Around 3.30pm yesterday, police located a man at a unit complex in Juan Street in Alexandra Headland.

Following an extended period of negotiations with police, he surrendered peacefully at 6:30pm this evening and was taken into custody.

A 34-year-old man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

As part of the ongoing investigation, detectives have also charged a woman with accessory after the fact to murder on June 29.

It will be alleged that a 40-year-old Palmwoods woman assisted the man get to the unit complex on Juan Street at Alexandra Headlands.

She has been charged with one count of accessory after the fact to murder and appeared in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 30.

She has been remanded to reappear in that same court on July 2.

It will be further alleged that a 28-year-old Alexandra Headlands man also assisted and he has been charged this evening with one count of accessory after the fact to murder and is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates court on July 2.
